I have always been against having a smart meter, but when I received an email to say that the BBC radio service that supports RTS meters is due to be switched off at the end of March 2024, I had no choice. The meter was duly installed at the beginning of July 2023 and eventually connected to my energy supplier So Energy. Since then So Energy continues to send me requests for meter readings. They have not provided a statement or taken any money from my account since the end of June 2023. Contacting them does not good whatsoever, I get a response to my email saying
“This is an AUTO-RESPONSE, just to let you know we have received your message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
With energy prices so high and a limited budget I need to budget for the winter.
So, if you have a choice, I would not get a Smart Meter, it was very easy to take readings every month. Yes I could supply them with meter readings, but that rather defeats the idea of a Smart Meter.
My renewal is due, a dilemma, should I stay or should I go elsewhere?
