This morning I took part in some Open University staff development training, which took up most of the morning, followed by student’s telephone tutorials during the afternoon, leaving no time for much else.
Today – On this day in 1957 the Soviet Union sent the first ever-living creature, a dog, into the universe aboard Sputnik II. In 1975 the North Sea oil began to flow and the Queen formally began the operation at a £500,000 ceremony in Scotland.
The Weather – The fog had disappeared this morning, in Newport, in Essex in the United Kingdom, leaving the day cold and dull. The temperature at noon was thirteen degrees Celsius, although it seemed much colder.
There are no family birthdays today, but the two I have chosen to record today are Charles Bronson (1921 – 2003) and Lulu who is 67 today.
